League of Legends Patch 26.17 is live, and Patch 26.18 is the next scheduled update on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Pacific Time. Riot has 24 numbered patches on its 2026 calendar. Most arrive about every two weeks, but Thursday releases and longer gaps do occur.

Timing note: Riot publishes this calendar in Pacific Time. Maintenance is handled by regional shard, so the update may appear on a different local date or at a different hour for you. Check Riot's regional status page before assuming a rollout is late.
The status column reflects the live game on September 1, 2026. A released patch links to Riot's notes; an upcoming patch will receive a notes link only after Riot publishes it. No date was marked as rescheduled on Riot's schedule when this page was checked.

Source: Riot's official League patch schedule and the official patch-notes archive, checked September 1, 2026.
Riot uses the format year.patch number. Patch 26.01 is the first scheduled patch of 2026, while 26.17 is the seventeenth. Riot's patch-note headlines usually drop the leading zero, so “26.01” on the calendar and “26.1” in the notes refer to the same update.
The practical cadence is roughly every two weeks, not an unbreakable 14-day rule. The 2026 schedule includes several Thursday deployments and a three-week gap before Patch 26.14 and again before Patch 26.24. Holidays, production needs, and major events can change the rhythm.
Seasonal milestones still arrive inside numbered patches. Patch 26.09 began Season 2, Patch 26.12 opened Season 2 Act 2, and Patch 26.15 began Ranked Season 3. For the competitive calendar itself, use our League ranked season dates; for placements and resets, see how League rank resets work.
A patch-notes publication timestamp is not the deployment time. Riot published the 26.17 notes on August 25, while the patch was scheduled for August 26. Every released 2026 notes page followed that one-day-ahead pattern when checked, but Riot does not promise that exact lead time for every future update.
The calendar itself uses Pacific Time. Regional shards can enter maintenance on their own timetable, and a local time-zone conversion may place the update on a different clock hour or calendar date. If the client still shows an older version, check your region on Riot Games Service Status before troubleshooting the installation.
Players often use “patch” for several different kinds of change. Only Riot's numbered gameplay releases belong in the annual table.
| Update type | What it does | Gets a schedule row? |
|---|---|---|
| Seasonal or major patch | A normal numbered patch that also starts a season or ships broader systems and content. “Major” is a useful description, not a separate numbering system. | Yes |
| Regular balance patch | The usual numbered release with champion, item, mode, system, and bug changes. It may also change current League maps and game modes. | Yes |
| Hotfix or micropatch | A targeted correction between numbered releases. Riot often records these under a dated “Mid-Patch Updates” heading in the existing notes. | No |
| Client update | Riot Client or front-end software work that may arrive independently from gameplay balance. | No |
| Server maintenance | A service-availability window for a shard. Maintenance can accompany a patch, but it is not itself a gameplay patch. | No |
A numbered patch can also introduce a champion. If you're tracking roster history rather than balance timing, the LoL champion release timeline is the cleaner reference.
Patch 26.17 is current as of September 1, 2026. It was scheduled for August 26, and Riot published its notes on August 25.
Patch 26.18 is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Pacific Time. The date remains subject to change until Riot deploys it.
Usually Wednesday in Pacific Time. Riot's 2026 calendar also includes Thursday releases on January 8, January 22, February 19, May 28, and September 10.
No. Riot's calendar is in Pacific Time, while maintenance and availability are handled by regional shard. Use Riot's region selector for the maintenance window that applies to your account.
Riot lists 24 numbered patches, from 26.01 through 26.24. Hotfixes, micropatches, client updates, and maintenance windows are not extra entries in that count.
There is no dependable fixed size. The download depends on the assets in that update and the files already installed on your computer. Check Riot Client on patch day rather than relying on a generic size estimate.
Plan around the scheduled date, then confirm with Riot close to release. That distinction keeps this calendar useful without pretending a future deployment is guaranteed.
