League of Legends Last Hit Assist adds a visual cue to minion health bars to help you judge a basic-attack killing blow. To enable it during a supported game, open Esc → Interface → Health and Resource Bars → Show Last Hit Assist. Checked against Riot’s published notes through Patch 26.19, the feature supports Normal Draft but not Ranked Solo/Duo or Ranked Flex.

Riot calls the feature Last Hit Indicators; Show Last Hit Assist is the checkbox name documented in the in-game menu. You still choose the target and issue the attack. This is a timing aid, not automatic farming.
Turn on Last Hit Assist during a game
- Enter Practice Tool on Summoner’s Rift, or another supported queue from the table below.
- Once you’re in the game, press Esc to open Settings.
- Select Interface and find Health and Resource Bars.
- Enable Show Last Hit Assist, then close Settings and watch an enemy minion’s health bar as it takes damage.
Use the in-game menu, not the desktop client’s settings before a match. The menu route is documented in specialist interface coverage; it has not been independently checked in a Patch 26.19 game for this guide. If your menu differs, check the queue and client language before assuming the option has been removed.
Which queues support Last Hit Indicators?
The important correction is in Riot’s final Patch 26.13 clarification: Normal Draft gained the feature, but the proposed Ranked rollout did not proceed. No subsequent expansion was found in the official updates reviewed through 26.19.
| Queue or mode | Supported? | Default | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal Draft | Yes | Off | Added in 26.13 |
| Swiftplay | Yes | Off | 26.13 default |
| Co-op vs. AI | Yes | Off | 26.13 default |
| Tutorials | Listed in 26.5 | Not restated in 26.13 | No later removal found |
| Practice Tool / Custom Games | Listed in 26.5 | Check the toggle | Use Summoner’s Rift |
| Rotating modes | Summoner’s Rift queues listed | Not separately confirmed | Not every rotating mode |
| Ranked Solo/Duo / Flex | No | Unavailable | Ranked testing postponed |
| ARAM / ARAM: Mayhem | Outside the documented rollout | Not applicable | Not Summoner’s Rift queues |
The original 26.5 rollout notes described different new-account defaults. For the three queues named in 26.13, use the newer off-by-default rule. Riot’s reviewed notes don’t establish a region-specific rollout, a current account-level requirement, or a separate Classic guarantee.
What the cue predicts—and what it leaves to you
Think of it as a basic-attack damage threshold, not a countdown. Riot documents lasting modifiers such as Long Sword’s attack damage and Varus W ranks. Its original design explanation also names Wit's End as an included persistent on-hit example. That is not a promise that every on-hit interaction works.
Temporary damage can beat the indicator
Sheen procs and Jax W are excluded examples. An empowered attack can therefore kill before the cue says an ordinary attack will. That conservative omission is different from a broken setting. Riot’s published exceptions also include Azir’s soldier attacks and Graves; no later support fix was found.
Don’t read it as a spell-damage preview or a forecast of your next random critical strike. Riot hasn’t published a complete critical-strike, minion-armor or damage-reduction formula for this feature. The attack-damage number on your champion panel alone is not a reliable substitute for damage actually dealt to a particular target.
A killable minion can still die before your attack arrives
Your attack animation and, for ranged champions, projectile travel take time. Allied minions or a turret may finish the target first. Riot specifically warns that low-damage ranged attacks may need to be started before the indicator appears.
For example, if a cannon minion is taking several incoming shots, waiting for a cue and then beginning a slow attack may be too late. Watch those incoming attacks as well as the health bar. The indicator doesn’t reserve the last hit for you or predict the arrival of every other projectile.
If the basic concept is new, our explanation of what last hitting means covers the killing blow and its gold reward. Nearby minion experience, support executions and champion execute effects are separate systems; enabling this checkbox doesn’t create or alter them.
If the setting is missing or the result looks wrong
Check the simple explanations first. A queue restriction, an unsupported attack and a late projectile need different responses.
| Problem | What to check | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| No checkbox in the client | Open Interface settings inside a supported game. | The desktop client's settings expose every in-game option. |
| Nothing appears on minions | Confirm the queue, checkbox and champion; observe an enemy minion taking damage. | A selected preference overrides queue restrictions. |
| An unusual attack disagrees | Compare the interaction with the documented exceptions above. | Every champion attack pattern is supported. |
| An empowered hit kills early | Consider damage bonuses the cue intentionally omits. | The checkbox must be malfunctioning. |
| A ranged attack misses the last hit | Watch the wind-up, distance and other incoming damage. | The cue guarantees the target survives until impact. |
| The preference seems to reset | Recheck it in the next supported match. Record the account, queue and patch if the change repeats, then report it to Riot Support. | Its persistence or synchronization is guaranteed across every client and account. |
These checks don’t require editing configuration files, changing the registry or installing a farming overlay. The reviewed documentation does not specify a universal cross-match persistence rule, so a repeatable reset needs investigation rather than a guessed file fix.
Use it to learn timing, not just follow a signal
Here’s a practice progression we recommend. It is a learning exercise, not a tested performance benchmark or a requirement to hit a particular CS number.
- Start with one champion in Practice Tool. Buy no bonus-damage items at first. Notice when the animation begins and when the attack lands.
- Add your usual starting item. Compare the new damage threshold while keeping the same champion. Change one variable at a time.
- Look away between last hits. Add brief minimap checks when you aren't about to issue the next attack. The aim is to stop staring at minion bars for the entire wave.
- Bring turret shots into the exercise. Let a wave reach your turret and watch how incoming damage changes your available window. Don't memorize one universal hit count for every champion and minion.
- Add a lane opponent in a supported low-pressure queue. Decide which minions are safe to contest instead of treating every visible cue as an instruction to walk forward.
- Disable the indicator for part of the exercise. Check whether you can recognize the same attack window from health, animations and incoming projectiles. Turn it back on to compare missed judgments.
A minion isn't worth severe poke, a lost lane position or an avoidable gank just because you can kill it. Sometimes giving up that gold while staying in experience range is the better decision. Our wave-management guide explains the lane-state decisions that this visual aid cannot make for you.
If movement, shopping and map awareness are still competing for your attention, use the League beginner guide alongside a short farming session. Learning those fundamentals is more useful than chasing a perfect isolated practice score.
A few remaining questions
Has Riot given a date for Ranked support?
No confirmed date was found in the updates reviewed through 26.19. The final 26.13 note makes any Ranked decision dependent on further feedback and data. A preliminary announcement is not evidence that the feature is enabled today.
Should an experienced player leave it enabled?
That is a preference, not an upgrade you must keep. Leave it on if the extra information helps; turn it off if the bars distract you. Judge the choice by how well you track the lane, not by whether using a built-in setting feels less demanding.
Does this guide cover Wild Rift?
No. These menu instructions and queue rules concern League of Legends on PC. A mobile game's targeting or minion indicators should not be treated as evidence for this setting.
Optional 1v9 services
1v9 also offers League of Legends coaching, League of Legends accounts and League boosting services. None is required to enable Last Hit Assist or changes its queue restrictions. Account purchases and boosting are not substitutes for learning farming, and these services are not affiliated with Riot Games.
Sources and update notes
September 26, 2026: checked the live-release documentation from 26.5 and the corrected 26.13 queue policy against later patch notes through Patch 26.19, plus Riot's July and September developer recaps. This is source-based verification, not a claim of hands-on testing on every queue or region.
The in-game menu route is documented by THESPIKE’s illustrated setup guide; Dot Esports’ July guide corroborates that setup is performed in-game. Riot’s final queue clarification takes precedence over launch-era or preliminary instructions.
