Marvel Rivals Gorr Guide: Abilities, Combos and Counters

Marvel Rivals Gorr Guide: Abilities, Combos and Counters

AI Summary

Play Gorr as a close-range Duelist who attacks alongside short-lived Black Berserkers, then repositions before the enemy can focus him down. Place a summon when a fight is about to happen, use Necro-Power to concentrate pressure on a reachable target, and keep a real way out. His main limitation is that the summons supporting his damage, Bonus Health, and movement can expire or be destroyed.

Last verified: September 18, 2026 (UTC) · Season 10 · Version 20260917. Gorr launched on September 11 and is live, not a preview hero. The September 17 update lists no Gorr balance changes.

Start by learning summon placement and Shadow Harvest targeting before attempting a long attack sequence. A good engagement leaves you close enough to hurt a vulnerable opponent without cutting yourself off from teammates. The recommendations below are situational, not a universal build.

The three checks to make before you engage

  • Can you reach something worth hitting? Prefer a target your team can also pressure. Chasing a distant opponent who still has an escape can waste your summon’s brief lifetime.
  • What is still protecting you? Check your shield, Living Abyss cooldown, and the position and health of any summon you might use for Shadow Harvest.
  • Can your team follow? A small off-angle is useful only while allies can exploit the distraction. Going several corners deeper can turn a coordinated attack into an isolated duel.

Gorr’s abilities: the job of each button

The reference below uses the default PC inputs shown on the official Gorr hero page. On controller, or with custom bindings, match the ability names to your settings instead of assuming the keyboard labels apply.

Core ability reference
Ability / PC inputWhat it doesWhen to use it—and the catch
All-Black · left clickFour-strike melee chain, with different damage on alternating strikes.Use during a safe close-range opening. Don’t stand still just to finish a chain after the target escapes.
Necro-Power · right clickCharged projectile: 30 damage and a 15% slow for 2 seconds. Sends nearby Black Berserkers to the impact location, or creates one. Cooldown: 6 seconds.Focus summon pressure on a target. The listed summon-recall radius is 12 metres: repositioning your summons can also change your escape options.
Black Berserker · EThrows symbiote matter that creates a summon on landing. It attacks the nearest enemy, with a listed 30-metre targeting radius.Create pressure from a useful angle. A summon in the open can be removed, and its targeting is not the same as manually commanding every shot.
Shadow Harvest · FTeleports to a selected Berserker and consumes it, granting Bonus Health based on 50% of its remaining health. Creates an explosion and briefly changes All-Black into a scythe, ending after the duration or four slashes.Reposition, attack or withdraw. You lose that summon, and a badly damaged one grants less Bonus Health. Harvest shares a 50-point Bonus Health cap with Berserker Swarm.
Living Abyss · ShiftSurges as an invincible symbiote mass, leaves a Berserker, and Frenzies active summons. Listed travel duration: 1.5 seconds; cooldown: 15 seconds. Its landing field damages enemies and converts that damage into capped Bonus Health.Cross danger or escape pressure. Invincibility during the surge does not make the following fight safe. Don’t always spend it as your opener.
Berserker Swarm · passiveBerserker damage grants Bonus Health, up to the shared 50-point cap; defeating an enemy creates another Berserker.Landing summon damage helps survival. It is not unlimited healing, and an elimination reward should not be assumed before the target actually falls.
Twilight of the Gods · QTransforms All-Black into Annihilablade, creates Berserkers near enemies caught in the initial field, and maintains a moving Necroverse that supports summons. Maximum duration: 12 seconds.Commit when your team can hold enemies in reach. The ultimate preserves summon lifetime inside its field; it does not make summons indestructible.

Health, Regenerative Shield and Bonus Health are not interchangeable

Regenerative Shield returns after you avoid damage: the Season 9 shield rules specify a five-second delay, then regeneration over five seconds. That makes breaking contact useful, but it does not justify waiting out in the open. Bonus Health from Gorr’s summon interactions follows its own caps; do not count every listed source as an unlimited new layer.

Shadow Harvest uses a summon’s remaining health. As an illustration of the published rule, sacrificing one with 60 health left contributes 30 Bonus Health before the shared cap is considered. Consuming a healthy 150-health Berserker does not give an uncapped 75. Check what you already have rather than expecting every teleport to restore the same amount.

How to enter, play and leave a fight

Enter when the target has a reason to stay

An opponent contesting an objective or already fighting your Vanguard is usually a more practical target than someone retreating through several open sightlines. Approach through cover, place a fresh Berserker, and check which enemy it is attacking. You want the summon and your team to create pressure together, not for the summon to expire while you search for an opening.

On attack, this often means joining a committed teammate from a nearby angle. On defense, let enemies move into space your team can contest before committing past them. These are positioning recommendations, not fixed routes that apply to every map.

Recheck your summons after every relocation

Necro-Power can move the very Berserker you were counting on for a retreat. Before using Shadow Harvest, confirm the target is still alive, within selection range, and somewhere you actually want to stand. Sacrificing a summon to gain a scythe window is useful only if the destination gives you attacks worth taking.

If an opponent clears your forward summon, the decision changes immediately: you have lost pressure and a possible teleport target. Replace it from a safer angle if you can, or disengage. Repeating the planned combo as though the summon were still there is how a manageable trade becomes a death.

Leave while you still have an exit

Stop chasing when the target has escaped your useful range, your team has backed away, or your remaining summons are about to disappear. Preserve Living Abyss when it is your only dependable way through incoming damage. A short retreat that restores your shield and lets a charge return can be more valuable than forcing one extra swing.

For the wider positioning principles behind those decisions, see our Marvel Rivals positioning guide. Use its cover and teammate-awareness advice; Gorr’s current ranges and summon rules are the ones documented here.

Three combinations to learn—with reasons to stop

These sequences are editorial applications of the verified kit, not tested kill guarantees. Practice the individual interactions first and stop a sequence when its setup disappears.

Summon pressure into a scythe opening

  1. Place a Black Berserker when an enemy is close to a space your team can contest.
  2. Land Necro-Power to slow the target and concentrate nearby summon pressure.
  3. Use Shadow Harvest only if the resulting destination is safe enough to attack from.
  4. Take the scythe attacks the opening allows, then reassess rather than automatically chaining another teleport.

Why it helps: damage and the slow arrive before you commit your body. When it fails: the projectile misses, the enemy destroys the summon, a defensive ability protects the target, or the relocated Berserker is in a bad position. Don’t chase merely to complete the sequence.

Pressure first, Living Abyss held in reserve

If you can approach behind cover or an ally, begin with summon pressure and basic attacks while keeping Living Abyss available. Use the surge when enemy focus makes staying unsafe, then assess the Berserker it leaves behind. This gives up the immediate Frenzy from an early Shift in exchange for a defensive option; it is useful when opponents are waiting to punish your entry.

Hive Mind into a team focus call

With Hive Mind selected, aim the claw so its returning path can catch the intended opponent and launch them toward you. Tell teammates which target you want to pressure, then combine the displacement with attacks or Necro-Power if the range is right. A missed return, obstructed follow-up, or enemy defensive response can break the plan. The pull is an opportunity, not a promise of an elimination.

Use Twilight of the Gods for a fight your team can sustain

Two different ranges matter. The initial summon effect is listed at 10 metres; the moving Necroverse that sustains Berserkers extends to 30 metres. The larger field is not a claim that casting Q immediately summons beside every enemy within 30 metres.

Activate when you have targets within useful reach and teammates ready to contest the same space. Frenzied Berserkers attack faster, and their lifetime is held while they remain in the ultimate’s field. Enemies can still destroy them, disengage, or use defensive tools to deny useful damage.

For example, if allies have forced opponents to stay on an objective, announce your ultimate and push together. If the opponent has already retreated through a doorway your team cannot safely cross, save it. A large weapon does not solve the problem of having nothing safe to hit.

Ragnarök or Hive Mind? Choose the tool, then the partner

The current Team-Up system separates a selectable base effect from a stronger effect with the matching ally. You do not need Hela or Venom merely to use the chosen base ability. The hero page lists both versions; Mobalytics’ Season 9 system explanation also documents selecting one option and changing it back at spawn.

Gorr’s two Team-Up choices
ChoiceBase abilityEnhanced with the matching ally
RagnarökA 5-metre sweeping attack dealing 45 damage, Grounding enemies for 1 second, and briefly changing All-Black into a scythe. Cooldown: 20 seconds.Hela adds 2 metres to Shadow Scythe’s maximum attack distance and enables fragments that grant Bonus Health to Gorr and nearby allies.
Hive MindA piercing claw travels up to 25 metres, dealing 40 damage outward and 20 on return; the returning claw launches caught enemies toward Gorr. Cooldown: 15 seconds.Venom increases Black Berserker damage by 33% and adds a 30% slow lasting 1 second.

Ragnarök is worth considering when a close-range Ground can help your team contain a mobile opponent. Hive Mind offers a longer-reaching displacement and, with Venom, stronger summon pressure. Neither is automatically correct: consider the approaches available on the map, your ability to land the skill, and what your teammates are already covering.

Beyond formal Team-Ups, look for a teammate who can start pressure without requiring you to go first and a Strategist who can support your chosen angle. Mantis’s healing and damage-boost tools, for example, can support an entry, but they do not remove your need to retreat. Our Strategist positioning and communication tips explain why a damage player should keep the support player’s situation in mind.

Difficult matchups are problems to solve, not automatic losses

Peni Parker defending prepared spaceMines and a nest-supported area punish a straightforward close-range approach. Her snare can also disrupt an entry.Help clear the setup with teammates or approach after it has been displaced. Don’t use a forward summon as an invitation to teleport into a fortified area.
Mantis holding Spore SlumberA ready defensive disable can interrupt the pressure you need after committing.Track whether she has spent it and coordinate focus with your team. Do not assume Bonus Health prevents crowd control.
Iron Man maintaining height and distanceFlight can keep him away from Gorr’s normal melee reach, while ranged pressure forces awkward approaches.Use cover and coordinate with a teammate who can threaten him at range. Do not abandon the objective for a low-probability aerial chase.

These are matchup assessments based on the published kits of Peni Parker, Mantis and Iron Man, not win-rate rankings. An individual hero is less decisive than its cooldowns, nearby teammates, and the geometry of the fight.

Common mistakes—and a short practice routine

  • Placing summons too early: wait until pressure is imminent instead of using most of their normal six-second life on preparation.
  • Spending every movement option on entry: decide what will get you out before committing.
  • Harvesting without checking health and position: a weakened summon grants less Bonus Health, and its location may have changed.
  • Treating the ultimate as invulnerability: your summons remain destructible and your own positioning still matters.
  • Confusing a partner bonus with base access: check the selected Team-Up and its enhanced state instead of assuming both options are active.

In the Practice Range, first repeat summon placement and Shadow Harvest until you can identify a valid destination without hunting for it. Next, use Necro-Power and watch where the summon moves. Finally, compare a summon’s ordinary expiry with its behavior inside the ultimate field. These are drills for you to perform, not tests we claim to have run.

For your next recorded match, review each death and ask one narrow question: did you still have a safe exit when you committed? Note whether the failure came from a missing summon, an expiring summon, range, or an enemy defensive tool. Correcting one recurring cause is more useful than memorizing another long combo.

Quick questions about Gorr

Is Gorr a Vanguard?

No. He is a Duelist. His regenerative protection and Bonus Health support aggression, but they do not turn him into a substitute for a team’s frontline or make sustained focus fire safe.

Does having two E charges mean only two Berserkers can exist?

The E charge count is not a reliable way to infer a global summon cap: other parts of Gorr’s kit also create Berserkers. The official values inspected for this guide do not clearly state a single total cap, so this guide does not assign one.

Are the controls the same on console?

The mechanics here are described by ability name; the listed keys are the official PC defaults. Check your controller layout for the corresponding actions. This guide does not invent a universal controller-button mapping or claim that aiming feels identical across platforms.

Optional 1v9 Marvel Rivals services

For readers exploring 1v9’s commercial offerings, there are Marvel Rivals coaching, Marvel Rivals accounts and Marvel Rivals boosting pages. These are not required to play Gorr, do not change his abilities or guarantee wins, and are not publisher-endorsed features.
