In Wuthering Waves, there are plenty of systems to level up, but your Data Bank Level plays a huge role early on if you want stronger Echoes to boost your team. While your Union Level unlocks new content and helps with character progression, the Data Bank Level specifically affects the Echoes you can collect, which directly ties into your combat performance. The leveling system for the Data Bank works differently from other mechanics in the game and requires its own approach. In this guide, we’ll break down the best time to focus on upgrading your Data Bank and how to do it efficiently so you can quickly get access to stronger Echoes and power up your squad.
In Wuthering Waves, the main way to earn Data Bank EXP is by collecting Echoes—creature-like abilities dropped by enemies across the overworld. Whenever you obtain a brand-new Echo or a different rarity of one you’ve already discovered, you’ll receive a chunk of Data Bank EXP. The amount you earn depends on the rarity: green (5 EXP), blue (10 EXP), purple (15 EXP), and gold (20 EXP). Although Echo drop chances are pretty low at first, they gradually improve as your Data Bank Level increases. To speed things up, keep an eye out for enemies glowing with a white aura—these are guaranteed to drop an Echo. You also get a limited number of boosted Echo drop chances each week from open-world mobs and weekly bosses. If you’re really looking to fill out your collection, you can farm Tacet Fields, but this method is only worth your time once you reach Union Level 40 due to the low drop rate of high-rarity Echoes before then.
Farming random enemies in the overworld is a solid way to boost your Data Bank early on, especially when most Echoes you find are new or higher in rarity. But eventually, you’ll hit a point where most of the Echoes you collect won’t reward any EXP because you’ve already logged that rarity. When that happens, it’s time to start targeting specific Echoes you’re missing. To do this, open your Data Bank and switch to the second tab where all discovered Echoes are listed. Scroll to the bottom and find Echoes that still have missing rarities—usually gold ones. Select one, hit “Track,” and the game will place a marker on your map for that enemy. Defeat them until you get the highest rarity version, then move on to the next missing Echo. This targeted method is the best way to keep your Data Bank level climbing once the easy gains are gone.
Upgrading your Data Bank level fast in Wuthering Waves comes down to smart farming and knowing when to shift your focus. Early on, you can level up quickly by collecting new Echoes as you explore, but once the easy ones are out of the way, you’ll need to start tracking specific enemies to complete your Echo collection. Stay consistent, follow the tracking system, and keep pushing for those higher rarities—doing so will help you unlock stronger Echoes and keep your team prepared for tougher battles ahead.
