To change your name in Clash Royale, reach King Level 4, open the menu, choose Settings, tap Change Name, and enter the new name twice. Your first change is free. Later changes cost Gems, and Supercell says the cost increases each time, so check the confirmation screen before approving it.
Last verified: August 27, 2026. Player names must be 2–15 characters. Supercell advises against offensive or political names, personal information, emojis and unusual characters that may render incorrectly.
The exact button position can move slightly after an interface update, but the official path remains Settings → Change Name. If you are creating a separate profile rather than renaming this one, use the new Clash Royale account guide so both accounts are protected by Supercell ID.
The first change is free. Additional changes require Gems, and the price rises after each change. We do not publish a fixed cost ladder because the value shown inside your account is the authoritative amount and Supercell can change the economy. The confirmation screen appears before any Gems are spent.
Check twice before confirming. Supercell Support says it does not rename accounts on request. A typo can therefore require another paid change rather than a support correction.
Do not install a modified APK or give another person access to the account to “unlock” the option. Neither method changes the server-side requirement and both add avoidable account risk.
Official support sets a length of 2–15 characters. Names must not contain offensive, rude or political material, and should not reveal your real name, phone number, address or other personal information. Supercell also warns that emojis, special symbols and some non-Latin characters may display incorrectly or make the name appear invisible.
Pick something readable in clan chat and battle logs. If you need ideas, start with the principles in our Clash Royale beginner guide: clarity and consistency are more useful than a decorative name that teammates cannot type.
No. Your in-game player name is not the account's login credential. A rename does not replace the linked Supercell ID, player tag, progress or purchases. It also does not transfer the account to a different email address.
Before switching devices, confirm the correct Supercell ID is connected and save the player tag somewhere private. Never send a verification code to someone offering a name-change service.
Official support says it does not change names on request. Use the in-game option and the price shown there.
Player names are not the unique account identifier; the player tag is. Similar or identical display names can therefore exist.
No. The player-name control changes only your profile name. Clan management follows separate rules.
Steps, unlock level, length and moderation rules were checked against Supercell Support. This page is reviewed when Supercell changes the profile interface or name economy.
