Upgrading your Workshop stations is a big part of progressing in Arc Raiders, and the Medical Lab is one of the most important ones to focus on early. A higher-level Medical Lab lets you craft stronger healing items using materials you collect during raids, which makes surviving tougher encounters much easier. To push the lab to higher tiers, you’ll need a mix of common and rare resources, including the Rusted Shut Medical Kit.
At first glance, this item doesn’t look very useful, but it’s actually a required component for upgrading the Medical Lab to Level 3. Since you’ll need multiple kits to complete the upgrade, knowing where and how to farm them efficiently can save a lot of time. In this guide, we’ll break down the best ways to farm Rusted Shut Medical Kits in Arc Raiders and increase your progress without unnecessary grinding.

Rusted Shut Medical Kits are most commonly found in medical-themed locations, and while several areas can drop them, some spots are far more reliable than others. Across Arc Raiders maps, a handful of points of interest stand out if you’re actively farming this item rather than hoping to get lucky.
On the Buried City map, the strongest locations to check are Hospital, Research, and Plaza Rosa. Out of all of these, the Hospital should be your first stop whenever possible. It’s currently the only location fully centered around medical loot, which means the drop pool isn’t mixed with other item categories. This makes your chances of finding a Rusted Shut Medical Kit much higher compared to shared loot zones.
The Hospital is located in the far northern section of Buried City and is a large multi-floor structure. Two of its floors are packed with lootable containers, medical carts, and storage spots. Because of how valuable this location is, it’s also heavily contested. You’ll often run into other players, or arrive to find the area already looted, so timing and awareness matter a lot here.
If the Hospital doesn’t pay off, your next best option is the Testing Annex in Dam Battlegrounds, located toward the southeastern side of the map. While this location shares its loot pool with commercial items, it still has a solid chance to spawn Rusted Shut Medical Kits. Many players report finding at least one kit per run here, making it a strong backup farming spot.
Most of the useful loot inside Testing Annex is concentrated on the second floor, especially along the western side of the building. There’s a long corridor filled with shelves, drawers, and medical tables that are all worth checking. Just be cautious—this area is often surrounded by ARC enemies, and encounters with Leapers and Rocketeers are very common outside the building.
There are also a few secondary locations in Buried City that can drop the Rusted Shut Medical Kit, including Research, Piazza Arbusto, and Plaza Rosa. Among these, Research and Plaza Rosa have slightly better odds, but they’re less consistent overall. These spots are best treated as optional stops if you’re already passing through them rather than dedicated farming routes.
Once you finally find a Rusted Shut Medical Kit, it’s highly recommended to place it in your Safe Pocket immediately. The item isn’t common, and losing it to another Raider or a bad fight would be a painful setback—especially when you need multiple kits to upgrade your Medical Lab.
Farming Rusted Shut Medical Kits is an important step if you want to fully upgrade your Medical Lab and stay prepared for tougher raids in Arc Raiders. While the item can be found in multiple locations, focusing on medical-heavy areas like the Hospital in Buried City or the Testing Annex in Dam Battlegrounds gives you the best results with the least wasted time. Planning your route, knowing which buildings to search, and securing the item as soon as you find it will make the grind much more manageable. With a bit of patience and smart looting, you’ll have everything you need to push your Medical Lab to the next level and improve your survivability.
