Omnivamp heals your champion for a percentage of the post-mitigation physical, magic and true damage you deal. In current League of Legends, it works on attacks and most damaging abilities. The major 2026 rule change is easy to miss: area damage is no longer automatically penalized against champions.
Quick answer
- 10% omnivamp heals 10 health from 100 eligible post-mitigation damage.
- Attacks, abilities and many item effects can trigger it.
- Against champions, current omnivamp applies at full value even to area damage and damage over time.
- Against minions, pet damage, damage over time and area spells apply omnivamp at 33% value.
- Smite and Ignite do not trigger omnivamp.

How omnivamp works in League of Legends
The calculation starts with the damage that actually reaches the target after armour, magic resistance, shields and other mitigation. Multiply that amount by your omnivamp percentage to find the base healing.
Example: you have 8% omnivamp and deal 400 post-mitigation damage to an enemy champion. The hit heals 32 health before effects that modify healing: 400 × 0.08 = 32.
Because the stat uses damage dealt, a large tooltip number does not guarantee a large heal. Armour or magic resistance can reduce the final damage, and dealing damage while already at full health wastes the healing. Omnivamp is therefore strongest when you can remain in range, lose health and continue landing meaningful damage.

Omnivamp vs. lifesteal
| Stat | Eligible damage | Typical users | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Omnivamp | Attacks plus most physical, magic and true damage from abilities and effects | Fighters and mixed-damage champions who keep casting | Only valuable while you are dealing eligible damage |
| Lifesteal | Basic-attack damage and interactions specifically treated as lifesteal | Marksmen and other attack-focused champions | Most spell damage does not heal through it |
Lifesteal is narrower but often appears on items designed around repeated attacks. Omnivamp covers more damage sources, so it can suit champions whose output is split between attacks, spells and passives. Neither stat is automatically better; the correct choice depends on how your champion actually deals damage and what you give up to buy the item.
The omnivamp rules that changed in 2026
Many older explanations say all area-of-effect damage heals at one-third value. That is no longer the general rule. Patch 26.1 made omnivamp apply at 100% value by default. The 33% treatment now applies to pet damage, damage over time and area spells when those effects damage minions.
Against champions
Eligible single-target, area and damage-over-time effects apply omnivamp at full value. You still heal only from the post-mitigation damage dealt.
Against minions
Pet, damage-over-time and area-spell damage applies the stat at 33% value. Direct attacks and eligible focused damage use the normal rule.
Summoner spells
Patch 26.4 explicitly removed omnivamp healing from Smite and Ignite damage. Do not include them in sustain calculations.
Mode-specific modifiers can still change values. Arena, ARAM Mayhem and temporary modes may offer different items or augments, so this article treats standard Summoner's Rift as the baseline unless stated otherwise.
Which current LoL items give omnivamp?
The stat returned to the standard item system in 2026. This is a practical snapshot of prominent Summoner's Rift sources in Patch 26.17, not a promise that every item remains unchanged after a balance patch.
| Item | Omnivamp | How it is supplied | Practical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Doran's Blade | 2.5% | Always active while held | Safer AD lane start with health |
| Doran's Bow | 1.5% | Always active while held | Attack-speed start that gives up Blade's health |
| Gluttonous Greaves | 4% base; +0.6% per champion takedown, up to 10 stacks | Boot stat plus permanent match stacks | Offensive sustain boot with a scaling trade-off |
| Endless Hunger | 5% base; more after a recent takedown | Base stat plus Feast window | AD caster fighters in extended teamfights |
| Maw of Malmortius | 10% after Lifeline triggers | Temporary, until the end of combat | AD champions surviving heavy magic damage |
| Riftmaker | Granted at maximum Void Corruption strength | Requires sustained champion combat | AP bruisers who can stay in range |
Client data can contain disabled, legacy and mode-specific duplicates. A raw item database search is therefore not the same as a valid build list. Check the live shop and current patch notes before changing a completed build solely for omnivamp.
When is omnivamp worth building?
Omnivamp is attractive when your champion deals sustained, reliable damage and can survive long enough to convert it into healing. It is less impressive when you are being crowd-controlled, bursted before a second rotation, outranged, or forced to spend the fight disengaging.
- Count realistic damage, not training-dummy damage. If the enemy has armour or magic resistance, your actual healing falls with the post-mitigation hit.
- Compare the opportunity cost. Resistance, health, ability haste, penetration or movement speed may prevent more damage than omnivamp can restore.
- Respect healing reduction. Grievous Wounds lowers the health you receive, so do not plan around the unmodified number.
- Match the source to the fight. Maw's omnivamp is conditional, Riftmaker needs combat time, and Gluttonous Greaves competes with every other boot choice.
- Review the replay. If positioning or target access prevents you from dealing damage, a different item will usually do more than another sustain source.
Players who want help separating build mistakes from positioning mistakes can compare League of Legends coaching options. For early-lane recovery tools rather than combat vamp, see the current LoL potions and consumables guide.
Omnivamp FAQ
Does omnivamp work on abilities?
Yes. Eligible ability damage can heal through omnivamp, including physical, magic and true damage. The healing is based on post-mitigation damage.
Is AoE omnivamp still reduced?
Not against champions under the current 2026 rule. Area spells apply it at full value to champion damage. Area-spell damage against minions uses 33% effectiveness.
Does omnivamp work on minions and monsters?
It can, but the explicit 33% rule covers pet, damage-over-time and area-spell damage against minions. Riot separately confirmed that Lee Sin's W omnivamp applies to minions, monsters and champions. Mode and ability-specific exceptions can still exist.
Does omnivamp work with Ignite or Smite?
No. Riot removed omnivamp healing from both damaging summoner spells in Patch 26.4.
Can multiple omnivamp sources stack?
Displayed omnivamp sources can combine, but temporary and conditional effects only count while active. Use the current stat panel rather than adding old tooltip values from a previous patch.

Mechanics were checked against Riot's Patch 26.1 omnivamp update, the Patch 26.4 summoner-spell rule, later 2026 item patch notes and Riot Data Dragon 16.17.1. Item values should be rechecked after balance patches.
