The Mire has been around since Warframe early days, originally known more for its role as a stat stick than for actual combat performance. Back when certain Warframes like Khora and Atlas needed melee weapons to boost their ability strength, the Mire was a go-to choice thanks to its decent base stats. But with the removal of stat stick mechanics in 2025, its popularity quickly faded.
That said, the weapon has seen new life with the release of the Coda Mire, introduced alongside Infested Liches. This upgraded version gives the Mire a serious boost, turning it into a viable melee option that can compete with stronger weapons in today’s meta. In this guide, we’ll cover how to acquire both versions of the Mire, highlight what makes it stand out, and break down the best builds to get the most out of this twisted Infested blade.
To get the standard Mire, head to the in-game market and purchase its blueprint for 15,000 Credits. Crafting it is fairly straightforward and only requires common materials found on early planets. The only part that might slow you down is the Neural Sensors, which drop from enemies on Jupiter—making that your best farming spot early on.
For those looking for a more powerful version, the Coda Mire is where it’s at. This variant is available from Eleanor’s shop in Hollvania, but you’ll need to progress a bit first. After completing The Hex quest and defeating a Technocyte Coda (Infested Lich), you can trade 10 Live Heartcells for the Coda Mire. It doesn’t require crafting and comes with improved stats, making it a much stronger option for high-level play.
Mire Crafting Requirements:
• 2x Neural Sensors
• 1,000x Ferrite
• 1,500x Nano Spores
• 2,000x Alloy Plate
• 20,000 Credits
• Crafting Time: 24 Hours
Both the Mire and its Coda variant are Infested swords that deal innate Toxin damage, making them especially effective against shielded enemies like the Corpus and great for applying damage-over-time effects. With fast attack speed and high status chance, the Mire excels at spreading procs, especially when modded for Viral or Corrosive combinations.
The base Mire has modest critical stats and is best used for status-focused builds. However, the Coda Mire takes everything up a notch. It boasts higher base damage across the board—Impact, Puncture, Slash, and Toxin—as well as significantly improved critical chance and multiplier, making it a strong hybrid option when paired with mods like Blood Rush to scale off your combo counter. It also features a progenitor bonus, adding an additional elemental damage type that accounts for 24–60% of the weapon’s total output. This bonus stacks on top of its already improved stats, giving the Coda Mire the potential to deal more than double the damage of the original.
Mire vs. Coda Mire – Core Stats:
• Base Damage (Total): Higher on Coda in every category
• Attack Speed: 1.08 (both)
• Critical Chance: 9% (Mire), 18% (Coda)
• Crit Multiplier: 1.5x (Mire), 2.4x (Coda)
• Status Chance: 31% (Mire), 40% (Coda)
• Follow Through: 60%
• Range: 2.7m
• Weapon Type: Sword
• Mastery Requirement: MR 5
If you’re looking for a fast-hitting, status-heavy melee weapon that can be pushed into crit territory, especially for endgame content, the Coda Mire is absolutely the version to go for.
In this section, we’ll go over two effective builds for the Mire: one aimed at newer players who want a solid melee option without heavy investment, and another designed for endgame play, including Steel Path content. Since stat sticks have been phased out in Warframe, the Mire is no longer needed to boost ability damage for Warframes like Khora or Atlas. That means both builds here are focused purely on turning the Mire into a deadly melee weapon in its own right.
Whether you’re just starting out or diving into high-level missions, these builds will help you get the most out of this Toxin-infused sword. The base version works well early on, but if you want serious performance, the Coda Mire is where the weapon truly shines.
Forma: None
Variant: Base Mire
This no-Forma setup is designed to turn the Mire into a dependable melee weapon for Star Chart missions and low to mid-level Sorties. While it won’t carry you through tougher content like Arbitrations, it’s more than capable of clearing early game missions with ease—and it’s a great stepping stone for newer players still building up their arsenal.
To boost your base damage, start with Pressure Point (or Spoiled Strike if you don’t mind the attack speed penalty), which gives a huge flat damage increase. To counteract any slowdown, slot in Fury and Quickening to improve swing speed and generate combo faster. Since the base Mire isn’t built for crits, we focus the rest of the build on status and elemental damage. If you can get your hands on Toxic Blight (from New Loka), it’s a great pick—it adds 100% bonus Toxin damage and triggers occasional Syndicate procs on kills. If not, Fever Strike is a solid alternative.
Combine Toxin with another element for bonus effects based on enemy weaknesses. Corrosive (Toxin + Electricity) is a solid all-around choice, so use Shocking Touch to make that happen. You can also throw in Volcanic Edge to add Heat, which pairs nicely with Corrosive or Viral for extra status effects and crowd control. Finally, toss in Reach to give your swings a bit more range and make the weapon more comfortable to use in crowded fights.
Forma: 3 (2 V, 1 Dash)
Variant: Coda Mire
With its much stronger crit stats, the Coda Mire is perfectly suited for a hybrid build that takes full advantage of both critical hits and status effects. Start by using Blood Rush to scale your critical chance as your combo counter builds, and pair it with either Galvanized Steel or Sacrificial Steel to push your crit chance even higher. Add Organ Shatter to boost your critical multiplier, and once your combo is ramped, you’ll be slicing through enemies with ease.
For elemental damage, we’re running Primed Fever Strike with Vicious Frost to create Viral, which helps enemies take increased health damage. Volcanic Edge is added for Heat, which causes panic and strips armor over time. If you’re using a Lich progenitor with a combined element like Magnetic or Radiation, that bonus damage type will stack on top of your modded elements, giving you extra procs to boost Condition Overload.
Speaking of Condition Overload, this mod ties everything together—once multiple status effects land, it massively amplifies your damage. Toss in Melee Exposure for some bonus Corrosive procs on slam attacks, and you’ve got a melee weapon that snowballs hard with each swing. With all the stacking effects and a high combo multiplier, this build transforms the Coda Mire into a true endgame melee powerhouse.
The Mire has come a long way from its early days as a simple stat stick, now standing on its own as a viable melee weapon—especially with the introduction of the powerful Coda Mire. While the base version is great for new players looking for a fast, status-focused sword, the Coda variant shines in endgame content thanks to its improved crit stats, higher base damage, and elemental versatility. With the right build, the Mire can dish out serious damage through status effects, crit scaling, and Condition Overload synergies. Whether you’re clearing the Star Chart or diving into Steel Path, this Infested blade is more than capable of holding its own.
