The Trahaearn district of Prifddinas has the best anvil for fast banked Smithing in OSRS, while the anvil south of Varrock west bank is the best widely accessible option and the best choice for free-to-play. Yanille is a convenient members' alternative. Otto's Grotto is not a general-purpose replacement: its barbarian anvil is for spears and hastae.

| Location | Best for | Access | Banking | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prifddinas, Trahaearn district | Fastest ordinary banked anvil work | Members; Song of the Elves | Anvil beside the south-east bank area | High quest requirements |
| Varrock west | F2P and accessible banked Smithing | No quest required | Anvils directly south of west bank | Slightly longer loop than Prifddinas |
| Yanille | Quiet members' alternative | Members | Anvil just south of bank | Slightly farther than Varrock |
| Void Knights' Outpost | Banked work after a Pest Control teleport | Members; boat or minigame travel | Bank and anvil on the outpost | Travel is less convenient for repeated returns |
| Deepfin Point | Players already using Sailing routes | Members; Sailing access | Local utility cluster | Not the default recommendation for a banked bar stack |
| Otto's Grotto | Spears and hastae | Members; Barbarian Training requirements | Bring bars and matching logs | Barbarian anvil is specialized |

The south-east Prifddinas bank and nearby anvil minimize empty movement during ordinary bar Smithing. This is the right answer once your account has completed Song of the Elves. Bring a hammer unless your chosen method provides one, set a repeatable bank preset manually, and smith the highest-bar-per-inventory item that matches your objective.

The anvils are in the building immediately south of the west bank. It works on free and members' worlds, has no quest gate and is easy to reach with Varrock Teleport or Grand Exchange routes. For most accounts that have not unlocked Prifddinas, there is little reason to accept a more complicated trip.
Yanille's anvil sits just south of its bank and is only slightly farther than Varrock west. Use it when a Watchtower- or Yanille-area route places you there already, or when you prefer a quieter location.
The outpost has both a bank and an anvil and is reachable from the Port Sarim squire or a Pest Control minigame teleport when available. It is convenient after Pest Control, but the access step makes it less natural than Varrock for a large stack of banked bars.
Sailing added useful utility clusters to the world. Deepfin Point belongs in a current list of nearby bank-and-anvil options, but its value depends on already having the route and activity there. Do not sail to it solely to replace a faster land-based bank loop.

This anvil is valuable for Barbarian Smithing and some Ironman resource plans, especially with the Fishing cape teleport. It is not the place to mass-produce ordinary platebodies. The relevant training requires the Barbarian Training sequence and, for Smithing, completion of Tai Bwo Wannai Trio plus its related steps.
The Blast Furnace is primarily a smelting minigame, not the best general answer to “closest anvil to a bank.” Use it to make bars efficiently, then move those bars to an appropriate anvil or another Smithing method.
The rusted anvil near the Lumbridge general store is a low-level training option that stops being useful at 15 Smithing. It should not be ranked among the best long-term anvils.

For ordinary banked Smithing, current training references identify the Trahaearn district of Prifddinas as the closest practical bank-anvil loop. It requires Song of the Elves.
Use the anvils south of Varrock west bank. They have no quest requirement and the nearest convenient F2P bank.
Most ordinary Smithing actions require a hammer in your inventory. Specialized activities can use different tools or built-in mechanics, so check the exact item recipe.
Location, access and method distinctions were checked against current OSRS game data and OSRS Wiki Smithing, Varrock, Prifddinas and Barbarian Training references. The page is rechecked after map, Sailing or Smithing updates.
