Not every League of Legends champion gets the spotlight when it comes to skins. While some champions rack up new cosmetics every year, others are often left behind with only a handful of options. Whether it’s due to low popularity, challenging character designs, or just being overlooked, these champions haven’t seen as much love from Riot’s skin team. In this article, we’re taking a look at 12 League of Legends champions with the fewest skins—some of which haven’t had a new one in years.
Akshan is a unique case when it comes to skin count. Even though he was released back in mid-2021, he’s still among the champions with the fewest available skins in League of Legends. Technically, he has three skins in total, but only two are directly purchasable. The third — Three Honors Akshan — is locked behind a reward system that requires reaching Honor Level 5 by the end of a ranked season. So if you’re looking to grab a fresh look for Akshan in the store, your only real options are Cyber-Pop Akshan and Crystal Rose Akshan, both priced at 1350 RP.
Ornn might be one of the most beloved top lane champions in League of Legends thanks to his tankiness and team utility, but when it comes to skins, he’s been left out in the cold. Despite being released back in 2017, Ornn only has a handful of skins to his name. His small skin pool is even more noticeable given his popularity and the time he’s been in the game. Players who enjoy playing this forge god don’t have many cosmetic choices, making him one of the most underrepresented champions in terms of skins.
Naafiri may be one of the newer faces in League of Legends, released in mid-2022, but she’s already picked up two skins—more than some older champions on this list. While two may not sound like a lot, it’s actually pretty decent when you compare her to how long it’s taken other champs to get the same treatment. Both of her skins are priced at 1350 RP and show off her unique character design, especially with how her loyal pack joins her in battle. Project Naafiri in particular stands out, giving her and her wolves a slick, cyberpunk-style makeover that feels straight out of a futuristic action game.
Ivern is one of the most overlooked champions in League of Legends when it comes to skins. Despite being released in 2016, he still has very few cosmetic options, which is surprising considering his unique personality and whimsical, nature-themed design. Unlike more popular champions who receive regular updates and visual overhauls, Ivern has been left behind with only a small selection of skins to choose from. His current lineup includes Candy King Ivern, Old God Ivern, and Astronaut Ivern, each available for 1350 RP, giving players limited ways to customize their favorite tree-hugging jungler.
Bel’Veth, one of the most distinct and monstrous champions in League of Legends, has immense potential for jaw-dropping skins thanks to her alien, void-themed design. Despite this, and a decent pick rate in ranked play, she surprisingly only has two skins since her release. It took over a year after her launch for a second skin to even appear. Battle Boss Bel’Veth and Cosmic Matriarch Bel’Veth both cost 1350 RP, with the latter standing out as a strong example of how incredible her future skins could look. Given her unique aesthetics and popularity, it’s baffling that Riot hasn’t explored more creative cosmetics for her yet.
Nilah may not enjoy the same spotlight as champions like Samira, but her sleek design and fluid playstyle still make her a strong candidate for amazing skins—though Riot hasn’t given her much attention in that department. It took over a year for her to get a second skin, and with a relatively low pick rate, she’s clearly not a top priority. That said, both of her available skins—Star Guardian Nilah and Coven Nilah, each priced at 1350 RP—offer impressive visuals. Coven Nilah especially stands out with its eerie voice filter and haunting aesthetic, proving she has huge potential if Riot decides to invest more in her cosmetic lineup.
Rell’s journey in League of Legends has been a rough one. Originally released in late 2020, she failed to gain much traction with players, leading Riot to rework her entire kit just three years later. Even though she’s seeing more play now, she still only has two available skins—Battle Queen Rell and Star Guardian Rell, both costing 1350 RP. While Star Guardian Rell is visually impressive, fans of the Iron Maiden are long overdue for more skin options, especially considering the creative potential her armored steed brings to the table.
Vex players have every reason to feel just as gloomy as their champion. Despite launching back in September 2021, the gloomy yordle mage is still stuck with only two skins: Dawnbringer Vex and Empyrean Vex, both available for 1350 RP. It’s especially frustrating when you consider that newer champions like K’Sante already have three skins—including a Prestige—while Vex continues to be overlooked. To make things worse, neither of her current skins stand out much in terms of creativity or flair. Hopefully Riot gives her the attention she deserves soon with a more daring and exciting design.
Hwei, the Visionary, isn’t a surprising addition to this list. Released #1: Milioat the very end of 2023, this artillery mage simply hasn’t had enough time to rack up more skins. Currently, his only available cosmetic is Winterblessed Hwei, which can be purchased for 1350 RP. Still, with his stunning spell effects and a uniquely deep ability pool—ten spells instead of the usual four—it’s only a matter of time before Riot’s skin designers give him more attention. Given his visual potential, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Hwei receive a Legendary or even an Ultimate skin in the near future.
Smolder, released in January 2024, is still brand new to the League of Legends roster, so it’s no surprise he currently has just one skin. However, with his charming design and visually impressive abilities, it’s likely that Riot won’t wait long to expand his skin lineup. His debut skin, Heavenscale Smolder, available for 1350 RP, already sets a strong tone for what’s possible. Whether it’s reimagining him as a powerful, fearsome dragon or turning him into a mythical creature from another realm, the creative potential for future skins is massive—and we’re expecting to see more of it soon.
Briar burst onto the scene in September 2023 and quickly became one of the most talked-about champions—loved by a few, but a constant headache for many thanks to her chaotic kit and patch note appearances. Despite all the attention, she still only has one skin available: Street Demons Briar, which can be purchased for 1350 RP. While her animations are a bit more restrained compared to flashier champions, Riot has shown with champions like Warwick that there’s still plenty of room for creativity. Hopefully, it won’t be long before Briar gets a new look that truly unleashes her feral style.
Milio, the Gentle Flame, is starting to follow in the footsteps of underappreciated champions like Rell and Vex when it comes to skins. Even though he was released months before Naafiri and has consistently been a top-tier support in both solo queue and professional play, he’s still stuck with just one cosmetic option. His only skin so far—Faerie Court Milio—is available for 1350 RP. While Milio’s base model is fairly simple, his spell animations are already impressive, which means future skins have the potential to shine even brighter. Hopefully, Riot gives this cheerful enchanter the love he deserves soon.
While some champions in League of Legends are showered with skins year after year, others are left waiting on the sidelines with only one or two cosmetic options. From recent releases like Smolder and Briar to older picks like Ornn and Ivern, it’s clear that Riot doesn’t always spread the skin love evenly. Whether it’s due to lower popularity or design complexity, these 12 champions continue to be the least represented when it comes to in-game looks. Hopefully, this spotlight encourages more creative skins for these overlooked favorites in future patches.
