Equivalent eDPI does not make two mice, pads, resolutions, postures, or players feel identical. It only normalizes the two sensitivity inputs. Polling rate, sensor behavior, available desk space, grip, and display conditions are separate variables.

Patch 11.06 removed the PC RawInputBuffer toggle and made the setting always enabled. If an old guide asks you to find that switch, it is no longer a current step.

Choose a starting sensitivity that fits your space

If you have no baseline, start near the middle of the 200–320 eDPI calibration band—for example, 240 eDPI—and test from there. This range is broad by design. Current professional databases show successful players outside it, so it should never be treated as a rule or ranking shortcut.

  1. Measure the mousepad width you can use without colliding with the keyboard or desk edge.
  2. Confirm you can turn between likely threats with one comfortable movement.
  3. Check that a small head-level correction does not shake past the target.
  4. Use the same grip and seating position you can sustain during a match.
  5. Write the DPI, base sensitivity, ADS multiplier, scoped multiplier, and date before testing.

A very low value can provide calm micro-control but require more arm travel and mouse lifts. A high value can turn quickly but magnify small tension or correction errors. Neither automatically belongs to a particular role.

Use a controlled three-setting test

Test a baseline, 10% lower, and 10% higher. Change only base sensitivity, keep the task and DPI fixed, and do not decide from one personal best.

Run several repetitions per setting in a rotated order so warming up does not always favor the last number. Select the most controllable candidate, use it for at least several normal sessions, then review a sample of first contacts.

Test ADS and scoped multipliers separately

VALORANT exposes separate multipliers for aim-down-sights and scoped weapons. Keep them at a stable baseline while finding base sensitivity. Afterward, change only the multiplier that produces a repeatable problem.

  • ADS multiplier: affects weapons using aim-down-sights or alternate zoom behavior where applicable.
  • Scoped multiplier: affects sniper scopes. Evaluate it with the Marshal and Operator rather than a generic rifle task.
  • Zoom level: can change perceived speed, so compare the actual weapon and scope state used in matches.

Do not assume a multiplier of 1 creates identical physical monitor-distance behavior at every zoom. If your base aim is clean but scoped corrections consistently pass the target, lower only the scoped multiplier in small steps and retest. Raise or lower sensitivity for a repeated reason

Consider lowering it when

  • micro-corrections repeatedly overshoot in both practice and matches;
  • the crosshair shakes during calm holds despite a relaxed grip;
  • small target tracking jumps ahead after direction changes;
  • your setting encourages wrist tension you cannot sustain.

Consider raising it when

  • you repeatedly run out of usable pad during necessary turns;
  • micro-corrections stop short despite clean intent;
  • frequent mouse lifts break tracking or angle transitions;
  • your physical setup cannot support the required travel comfortably.

First rule out a crosshair starting-position error. A player who aims at the wrong wall will make a large correction at any sensitivity. The response-time guide separates detection, decision, placement, and execution.

Console sensitivity is a separate controller problem

eDPI does not apply to analog sticks. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, tune base horizontal/vertical look, Focus, ADS, scope, deadzones, and response behavior through the options currently shown on your console build.

  1. Set a base look speed that can turn comfortably without losing target control.
  2. Test small stick input around a stationary target for drift and deadzone.
  3. Tune Focus for common rifle engagements.
  4. Test ADS and sniper scope separately.
  5. Keep the setup for several sessions before adjusting one field.

Riot does not support mouse-and-keyboard play on console, and PC/console competitive pools are separate. Do not use adapters intended to disguise input.

Stop changing sensitivity once the errors stabilize

A bad match is not evidence that the setting changed. Hold one configuration through several sessions and tag first-contact errors: over, under, wrong height, late detection, movement inaccuracy, or bad exposure. If placement and decision errors dominate, sensitivity is not the current bottleneck.
