Each toggle and numeric value is independent. If gameplay appears capped correctly but the lobby runs at another rate, check the menu limit instead of changing the main ceiling.
Start from measured stability. Play a representative match or Range drill, watch the low and typical frame rates, then choose a cap the system can sustain during utility-heavy fights. A stable 180 FPS can feel better than a counter that swings between 180 and 320, but a player with different hardware may make the opposite trade-off.
Do not assume “refresh rate minus three” is a universal VALORANT rule. That convention belongs to specific sync configurations and testing goals, not every uncapped competitive setup.
