Iansan is one of the newest 4-star characters to join the Genshin Impact roster, bringing solid Electro support capabilities to any team. While she might not look like much at first glance, Iansan offers a powerful ATK% buff for the whole party and even provides light healing, making her an extremely valuable pick—especially for players lacking strong support options. Often compared to Bennett for her utility, Iansan only gets better with constellations. In this guide, we’ll break down exactly how her kit works and show you the best ways to build her for maximum team impact.
Iansan is a 4-star Electro Catalyst user with the Constellation Carnotaurus, designed to support your team with powerful ATK% buffs. What makes Iansan special is how her buff works—rather than locking you into a fixed field like Bennett’s Burst, her ATK boost sticks to your active character and follows them around. This gives you much more flexibility in combat. However, there’s a twist—if you stop moving, the buff starts to fade. Her buff runs on something called Nightsoul Points, and you regenerate them by keeping your active character moving while the buff is active. This makes her perfect for high-mobility characters like Varesa, but a little trickier to use with slower, more stationary playstyles.
If you can keep her buff going, the payoff is big—especially if you’ve unlocked a few of her constellations. C2 and above start to crank up the ATK bonuses significantly, and by C6, you even get a DMG% boost to push your team’s damage even further. Overall, Iansan is an excellent support unit for aggressive, fast-paced teams, and a strong addition to any roster, especially for those in need of a flexible Electro buffer.
Since Iansan’s support strength is directly tied to her ATK stat, the best weapons for her are the ones that boost ATK as much as possible. At the top of the list is Calamity Queller, which is tailor-made for units like Iansan. It not only gives a flat bonus to all Elemental DMG but also increases ATK over time when she uses her Elemental Skill. The bonus doubles while she’s off-field, which makes it perfect for her playstyle as a support that buffs from the sidelines.
If you don’t have access to Calamity Queller, Engulfing Lightning is another solid 5-star option. It boosts ATK based on Energy Recharge and gives an extra burst of Energy Recharge after using her Elemental Burst—helping her cycle through skills faster and buff more consistently.
For a free-to-play option, Tamayuratei no Ohanashi works surprisingly well. It increases ATK and Movement Speed for a short duration after using a skill, which syncs up with how Iansan’s buffs are triggered and maintained through movement.
In short, stack ATK on Iansan as much as you can—whether it’s through premium gear or well-synergized alternatives, her performance scales up nicely with the right weapon.
The top artifact set for Iansan is without a doubt the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, which perfectly complements her supportive kit. This set is built for Natlan-style supports and fits Iansan’s mechanics like a glove.
The 2-piece bonus helps with energy generation by restoring 6 Energy whenever a nearby ally triggers a Nightsoul Burst, keeping her uptime high for both skills and buffs. The real power, though, comes from the 4-piece bonus, which grants nearby party members a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus after Iansan triggers an Elemental Reaction. If she’s in her Nightsoul’s Blessing state when this happens, the buff becomes even stronger—jumping to a massive 28% Elemental DMG Bonus for 20 seconds. What’s even better is that this effect works off-field, so she can continue supporting while your main DPS takes over.
As for main stats, stick with ATK% for Sands, Goblet, and Circlet. These scale directly with her buffing power. In terms of substats, prioritize Energy Recharge to keep her skills ready, followed by more ATK% to maximize her buff value.
Altogether, this set turns Iansan into an amazing off-field support who not only boosts ATK but also ramps up Elemental DMG for reaction-based teams.
Skill Priority: What to Level First
When building Iansan, the order in which you level her talents matters a lot—especially if you want the most value out of her support capabilities. Your top priority should always be her Elemental Burst. This is where her main buffs come from, and leveling it up directly boosts the amount of ATK% she gives your team.
Next up is her Elemental Skill, which helps her generate Nightsoul Points and keep her buff active. It also scales a bit with level, so it’s worth investing in once your Burst is high enough.
As for her Normal Attacks, they aren’t important for her role. Unless you just really enjoy her animations or plan on building her as a meme DPS, you can safely leave her auto attacks untouched.
Priority Order: Elemental Burst > Elemental Skill > Normal Attack. Keep your resources focused on her supportive strengths, and she’ll carry your team’s damage like a mini 4-star Bennett.
Iansan might be a 4-star, but she plays like a top-tier support when built right. With her powerful ATK% buffs, off-field utility, and great synergy with mobile characters, she easily earns a place on many team comps. Whether you’re running her in a reaction-heavy squad or just need a solid backup buffer, Iansan delivers way more than expected—especially if you’ve unlocked a few of her constellations. If you invest in the right artifact set, prioritize her Burst, and stack some ATK% and Energy Recharge, she’ll quickly become one of your favorite support units in Genshin Impact.
