How To Fly In Wuthering Waves

With the Wuthering Waves 2.0 update, players were introduced to a ton of exciting new features, including a fresh region, new Echoes, characters, and weapons—but one of the coolest additions is the ability to fly. While it’s not full, unrestricted flight, this new mechanic adds a whole new layer of exploration and makes navigating the world of Rinacita feel smoother and more dynamic. Whether you’re trying to reach hard-to-access areas or just want to glide across scenic landscapes, learning how to use this feature properly will enhance your adventure. In this guide, we’ll walk you through exactly how flying works in Wuthering Waves and how to get started.

How To Unlock Flying In Wuthering Waves

How To Unlock Flying In Wuthering Waves
To unlock flying in Wuthering Waves, you’ll need to progress through the early part of the Rinacita storyline introduced in the 2.0 update. Flight becomes available during the quest called The Sacred Breeze So Often Breathes, which you’ll trigger as you make your way into the Cathedral of Mecuryin in Ragunna City. While the ability isn’t unlocked right away at the start of 2.0, you can reach it pretty quickly by finishing Chapter One, Act Three: Ominous Star and then jumping into the Next Stop: Rinacita event from the main menu. It helps if you’ve completed all pre-2.0 story content—including the Black Shores arc—but it’s not mandatory. Once you’ve unlocked flight, it becomes a Utility item you can equip. You’ll be able to activate it when you’re airborne, opening up new ways to explore the world—but there are a few more things you’ll need to know to make the most of it.

How Flying Works In Wuthering Waves

How Flying Works In Wuthering Waves
Flying in Wuthering Waves works in a pretty smooth and intuitive way. Once you’ve unlocked the flight feature, all you need to do is get enough height and activate the flight utility. Your Rover will then whip out a jetpack and wings, launching you forward with a decent burst of speed. You can steer freely using your movement keys or analog stick, depending on what platform you’re playing on. Flight runs on its own stamina bar, and once that runs out, you’ll automatically switch back to regular gliding until you land.

While it feels more like powered gliding than true free flight, there’s still a good amount of control. You can’t just fly straight up—you’ll need to dive first to build momentum and then pitch upward to gain altitude. It’s a little like the gliding system in the Batman: Arkham games. To make your flights last longer, focus on exploring the Rinacita region. Hitting 25% exploration in each zone gives you +10 Flight Stamina, and you can increase progress by activating Resonance Beacons, collecting Sonance Caskets, and finishing local activities.

You can also take advantage of Wingray Echoes found throughout Rinacita. Just press the utility button near one to hook on and ride it into the air, then jump off and start flying again. Keep in mind, though—flight is only available in Rinacita for now. If you try using it in older zones, you’ll get a message telling you it’s disabled there. Still, it’s likely we’ll see flight added to more areas in future updates as long as there aren’t technical limitations holding it back.

Conclusion

Flying in Wuthering Waves adds a whole new layer of freedom and excitement to the game, especially when exploring the stunning new region of Rinacita. While it’s not true free flight, the momentum-based system still gives you plenty of control and style as you soar across the skies. Whether you’re diving from Wingrays or boosting your stamina through exploration, mastering flight is a game-changer for traversal and discovery. It’s a refreshing addition to the 2.0 update and something that’ll only get better as future regions expand on the mechanic.
