ARC Raiders throws you into a dangerous, machine-infested world where every run is about grabbing the right loot and getting out alive. Since the launch of Expedition 2, one item that suddenly matters a lot more is the Cooling Coil. These industrial components are now required to finish Phase 2 of the expedition project, and you’ll need a total of four to progress. Before this update, most players walked right past them because they didn’t serve much purpose, but that’s no longer the case. Knowing where to look can save you hours of risky scavenging and failed runs. In this guide, we’ll break down the best places to find Cooling Coils, the maps where they spawn most often, and the exact container types you should be checking to improve your chances every raid.

Cooling Coils only show up in one type of place in ARC Raiders: Industrial zones. You can spot these areas easily on the map thanks to the factory-style icon. Any location marked this way has a chance to spawn Cooling Coils, but some spots are definitely more generous than others, especially if you know what containers to prioritize.
These items don’t sit out in the open. Instead, they’re tucked inside specific containers scattered around industrial sites, and you’ll often need to break into locked or reinforced storage to find them. From testing and player reports, Cooling Coils can appear inside car hoods, abandoned buses, mobile generators, metal storage crates, vehicle tool cabinets, industrial drawers, and red lockers. Out of all of these, red lockers are by far the most reliable source and should always be checked first when you enter an industrial area. Breachable metal crates are the next best option, though their drops are less consistent. If you fully clear an industrial zone and crack open as many containers as possible, your chances of finding Cooling Coils increase dramatically.
Cooling Coils play a key role once you reach the second stage of Expedition 2. To move this project forward, you’ll need to hand in four Cooling Coils alongside 35 Durable Cloth, 25 Wires, and 20 Electrical Components, making them one of the harder items to track down for progression. Outside of expeditions, they’re still useful. You can break them down at the Raider Den to receive six Chemicals and two Steel Springs per coil, which is especially valuable since Steel Springs are required for crafting items like Advanced Mechanical Components and Extended Magazines. If you’d rather take the quick cash route, Cooling Coils can also be sold for 1,000 Raider Coins each, which can help a lot early on when gear upgrades and crafting costs start adding up fast.
Cooling Coils are mainly used to complete Phase 2 of Expedition 2, where you must turn in four of them along with other materials. They can also be recycled for crafting resources or sold for Raider Coins.
They only spawn in Industrial areas marked with a factory icon on the map. Red lockers and breachable metal crates inside these zones give the best chances.
No, spawns are not guaranteed. Even in Industrial areas, you may need to search multiple containers before finding one.
Recycle them if you need Steel Springs or Chemicals for crafting. Sell them if you’re short on Raider Coins early in the game.
Yes. Even after finishing the expedition, they remain useful for recycling into valuable crafting materials or selling for coins.
Finding Cooling Coils in ARC Raiders comes down to knowing where to look and what to prioritize. By focusing on Industrial zones and targeting high-value containers like red lockers and breachable metal crates, you can dramatically reduce the time spent farming this rare resource. Whether you need Cooling Coils to progress through Expedition 2, recycle them for valuable crafting materials, or sell them for extra Raider Coins, understanding their spawn locations and uses gives you a clear advantage. With the right route and a bit of patience, securing Cooling Coils becomes a manageable part of your ARC Raiders grind instead of a frustrating roadblock.
