Clash of Clans has six Home Village heroes and two Builder Base Hero Machines. At Town Hall 18, the current Home Village maximums are level 110 for Barbarian King and Archer Queen, 95 for Minion Prince, 85 for Grand Warden, 55 for Royal Champion and 25 for Dragon Duke. Your Hero Hall—not the Town Hall by itself—sets the upgrade ceiling.
Levels last checked: August 26, 2026
This reference includes the June 2026 hero-level additions and Dragon Duke, released earlier in 2026. Temporary boosts do not change the permanent caps shown below.
A dash means that hero is not available at that Town Hall. The table lists permanent Home Village upgrade caps, not the level shown during a temporary Hero Potion, event or preview boost.

The early Barbarian King is a special case. Supercell says he can be used from Town Hall 4, but you cannot upgrade him or equip Hero Equipment until Town Hall 7. His permanent cap remains level 10 across TH4–7.
The Hero Hall manages Home Village heroes. Upgrading it can unlock another hero, raise every hero’s cap and increase the number you may select—but owning six heroes does not mean deploying all six in one attack.
| Hero Hall | Town Hall | New hero | Active slots |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | TH4 | Barbarian King | 1* |
| 2 | TH8 | Archer Queen | 1 |

| 9 | TH15 | Dragon Duke | 4 |
| 10–12 | TH16–18 | None | 4 |
*At TH4–6, the early Barbarian King slot is for attacking rather than defending.
Hero level and Hero Equipment level are separate progression systems. Upgrading a hero improves its base statistics; equipment changes or strengthens its abilities. Use the current Clash of Clans Hero Equipment guide when deciding where to spend Ores.
Battle Machine and Battle Copter belong to Builder Base, so putting them in the Town Hall table creates a false comparison. Their caps follow Builder Hall progress.
| Builder Hall | Battle Machine max | Battle Copter max |
|---|---|---|
| BH1–4 | — | — |
| BH5 | 5 | — |
| BH6 | 10 | — |
| BH7 | 20 | — |
| BH8 | 25 | 25 (unlocks at 15) |
| BH9 | 30 | 30 |
| BH10 | 35 | 35 |
Supercell’s current Builder Base documentation confirms that Battle Copter unlocks at BH8 and begins at level 15. If you need the rest of that roster, the Builder Base troop list keeps troop progression separate from Hero Machines.
The highest numerical hero level is 110, shared by Barbarian King and Archer Queen at TH18. Different heroes use different scales, so a level-55 Royal Champion is at her TH18 cap rather than half-finished.
The current maximum is four active Home Village heroes. Hero Hall levels 7–12 provide four slots even though the game now has six Home Village heroes.
No. Supercell describes the Hero Potion as a temporary attack boost to the maximum allowed by your current Town Hall. The actual upgrade level and Hero Hall cap do not change.
Check the Hero Hall level first. The Town Hall allows the next Hero Hall, but that building must be completed before its higher caps apply. You also need a free Builder and enough of the required resource.
Use the Town Hall table for Home Village heroes and the Builder Hall table for Hero Machines. At the current endgame, TH18 supports six owned heroes, four active slots and caps of 110/110/95/85/55/25. The most reliable in-game check is still the Hero Hall upgrade screen, especially after a balance update.
The unlock rules were checked against Supercell’s Heroes and Pets documentation. Dragon Duke’s release and TH15 requirement were checked against the February 2026 update notes. Builder Base unlock details were checked against Supercell’s Builder Base hero documentation.
1v9 rechecks this page after a new Town Hall, Hero Hall or hero-level release. Exact costs and timers are intentionally omitted because Supercell can rebalance them independently of the level caps.
